Great Lakes Barcode

Challenges

The Great Lakes Barcode project required maintaining the previous design aesthetic during the transition. This called for careful attention to detail to ensure visual consistency and avoid disruption for existing users. The Great Lakes Barcode team also had core, outdated plugins that needed to be integrated because of their functionality. This posed a significant technical challenge, requiring custom solutions and workarounds to ensure compatibility and functionality within the new environment. Finally, executing the migration seamlessly from the staging environment to the live site demanded robust planning and execution to minimize downtime and potential issues.

Functionality

The solution implemented for Great Lakes Barcode is built on WordPress. A key aspect of the project involved a strategic migration from a GeneratePress theme to a Bootstrap-based theme. This transition was undertaken to provide a more robust and adaptable framework, enabling greater control over the site’s layout, responsiveness, and the integration of custom features necessary for their specific business needs and to accommodate the existing content and functionalities, including those tied to the older plugins. This approach ensures a stable and manageable foundation for Great Lakes Barcode’s online presence.
